Community Events
Every fall, the Community Arts Center, in cooperation with the Potters Guild is proud to participate in Empty Bowls, a nationwide project dedicated to the aid of hunger-fighting organizations. Proceeds from our fundraiser are donated to local food banks.
How it works:
The Empty Bowls concept is simple. Both professional and amateur ceramic artists create and donate more than 500 one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls. Attendees at the luncheon pay a small donation, choose a bowl to use, and are served a simple meal of soup and bread. They keep the bowl as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world.
How you can participate:
The Community Arts Center welcomes involvement on many levels:
- Create a bowl! The Community Arts Center offers two two-day workshops - one in summer, one in fall - to create bowls that will be used in the event. To participate in bowl making, please contact us to register: workshop.
- Donate soup! Delicious donations from local restaurants have been instrumental to the success of our Empty Bowls event. To make a donation of food, please contact the main officei at 610 566 1713.
- Join us! 100% of your contribution goes directly to fighting hunger in our area. And the handcrafted bowls you take home act as a beautiful reminder that selfless acts, rather than selfishness, are what make the world a more beautiful place.
